Penetration.

I have never seen a moon
as willing to penetrate
emptiness,

to focus its full span
on the darkest parts of night

and move effortlessly
with the reflected weight of the
sun’s light.

Waters rise percussively
toward hidden life,

lulled
by the lucid bulb
outgrowing its sky.

Tonight, I move in
isolation also,
forcing my lunar mind

to illuminate
the arid, physical
regions surrounding it,

to explore
each shadowed curve
and immensity.
